Being able to budget is necessary to be able to move all items in business forward. A lot of IT professionals do not enjoy budgeting because in relies on intangibles and projections that cannot be yet seen in the upcoming year.
New solutions are the hardest technology to budget for since you are not using the technology or may not be familiar with how it will consume costs or resources. But not budgeting enough can result in poor vendor choices and then you will budget too much and that can result in a “NO” from management.
Local Web understands all about this new territory for a lot of individuals and has outlined three different kinds of strategies that could be used while you are on your journey to understand the new cloud-based recovery services.
Walk Not Run Toward Disaster Recovery
If you are in this scenario, a customer most likely has not had a lot of cloud experience. This customer might not have a lot of DR experience. In this situation, where someone wants to try out a technology, they want to try out the technology and see how it works.
Basically, customers are using this type of approach by choosing one single application. If you choose only one application that is not protected from disaster, you will need additional protection too.
But, customers can learn from their experiences with an application to help teach them about making future decisions for more applications.
Choose Disaster Recovery Applications
Some customers have classified their applications into levels or tiers. This is another way they may decide to start off, by choosing a set of specific applications to protect in the cloud. These customers will choose anything that is a mission critical model and set a policy that all the applications are protected in the cloud. This is typical of customers that have already learned about cloud-based applications.
Re-Think Disaster Recovery
There are also a lot of companies out there that are under tremendous pressure to save money. But, they are dealing with unreliable implementation that they are ready to throw out their old ways and go totally to the cloud.
This can be way too aggressive for a lot of companies. But, companies will move for many different reasons. There is no right or wrong pat for businesses either big or small. But, these three paths are what we are seeing from the majority of companies today.
